Impressionism

   Impressionism - a movement in painting that developed in late-19th-century France, primarily out of the dissatisfaction many artists felt with the classical techniques of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris; rejecting these standards, impressionists such as Monet painted outside, choosing landscapes and figures from everyday life.
